The Midland High School Athletic Hall of Fame celebrated its inaugural induction class in 2015. Its purpose is to bring proper recognition to noteworthy athletes, coaches, and distinguished community members for their accomplishments and contributions to the more than 100 years of the Midland High School Athletic Program.
These athletes, coaches, and supporters have represented Midland High School with pride and have brought home some of the highest accolades possible in their sport. This recognition exemplifies Midland’s character and athletic excellence.
Nomination and Selection Process
Complete and submit the Hall of Fame Nomination Application available through the Midland High School Athletic Office indicating which category you are nominating: Athlete, Coach, Distinguished Community Member or Distinguished Alumni.Â
- The MHSHOF committee will review all submitted candidates and create a list of recommended candidates of no more than 10.
- Holdover candidates from year to year shall be judged on their merits on a case-by-case basis. There shall be no predetermined expiration for considering holdover candidates.
- The Selection Committee will meet to review all timely-received nominations and select candidates.Â
- New Hall of Fame Inductees will be notified by a member of the Selection Committee. A press release will be issued announcing the year’s inductees
Hall of Fame Candidate Categories
Athletes
- Candidates must have participated in the MHS Athletic Program in their 11th and 12th grade years.
- Candidates must be persons of integrity and fine character.
- Candidates cannot be considered until 15 years after their high school graduation.
- High School accomplishments considered include, but are not limited to:
- All-conference, all-district, all-region, all-state, school/state records, etc.
- Post High School accomplishments are not required but may be considered at the discretion of the
- committee.
Coaches
- Candidates must have coached a minimum of 5 years at Midland High School.
- Candidates cannot be considered until 5 years after their retirement from coaching.
- Outstanding contributions during his/her coaching career will be considered by the committee.
Distinguished Community Member
- Someone who has made significant and ongoing contributions to MHS Athletics.
Distinguished Alumni
- Must be a graduate of Midland High School
- Candidates must be persons of integrity and fine character
- Must have achieved significant accomplishments by participating, coaching, or administrating athletics.
